The Greater Chennai Corporation is gearing up to reopen the Marina Swimming Pool to the public in the coming days, following the completion of extensive renovation work. Closed since June, the pool is now almost ready, with only minor finishing touches left before it can welcome swimmers once again, according to an official.Previously maintained by the corporation, the pool’s upkeep was later outsourced to a private contractor, which led to numerous complaints about hygiene and poor maintenance. In response, the facility underwent a thorough inspection by Minister K.N. Nehru, prompting a series of renovations.
The upgrades include improvements in water flow, refurbished restrooms and changing rooms, vibrant mural paintings, and the installation of CCTV cameras for enhanced security and surveillance. These improvements aim to provide a better experience for the public, ensuring the pool is clean, safe, and well-maintained.
The reopening of the Marina Swimming Pool is eagerly anticipated by city residents, who have long regarded it as a popular recreational spot.
