At a recent protest meeting held in Chennai, leaders of the INDIA alliance expressed their strong opposition to the BJP and RSS’s political strategies, including the proposed “One Nation, One Election” policy. Organized by the Tamil Nadu Congress, the event saw participation from several key figures of the opposition alliance.
Addressing the gathering, Kanimozhi, DMK MP, emphasized that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin would not be intimidated by the BJP’s tactics or threats. She reiterated the determination of the INDIA alliance to fight against the BJP’s divisive politics on a national scale.
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan spoke out against the BJP’s hate politics, which he claimed is aimed at eliminating parties like the Congress and the Communists. He predicted that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will start his campaign in 2029 and will eventually end the BJP’s reign.
CPI(M) state secretary K. Balakrishnan also voiced his concerns about the “One Nation, One Election” proposal, calling for a strong political movement to dismantle it if it is enforced. He emphasized the need for a national-level political struggle against such attempts.
MDMK general secretary Vaiko added that the idea of “One Nation, One Election” cannot be accepted and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of aiming to bring in a presidential system of governance like in the United States. He urged the opposition parties to unite and fight against this agenda across the country.
