Leader of the Opposition, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), has questioned the DMK government’s financial transparency, asking, “Where is the revenue generated by the DMK administration being spent?” Addressing the media in Salem, he accused the DMK of burdening Tamil Nadu with record debts while failing to deliver visible progress.EPS pointed out that the DMK, during its opposition tenure, criticized the AIADMK government for taking loans. However, he highlighted that in the last four years, the DMK government has borrowed ā¹3.53 lakh crore, making Tamil Nadu the state with the highest debt acquisition annually. He claimed that by the end of the DMKās tenure, the stateās debt burden would reach ā¹5 lakh crore.
He further alleged that despite higher revenue from petrol, alcohol sales, GST, and vehicle registrationsāamounting to ā¹1,10,894 croreāthe government has not implemented significant development projects or increased capital expenditure. āIf thereās no visible infrastructure development, where is all the borrowed money going?ā EPS questioned.
EPS also criticized DMK Minister Senthil Balaji, calling him a āpolitical traderā who switched parties multiple times. He reminded the public of instances where DMK leaders criticized AIADMK leadership in the past, labeling such individuals as lacking the credibility to comment on AIADMKās governance.
