Residents of Chennai and Pallavaram are advised to brace for a temporary disruption in water supply from 9 p.m. on Monday, January 22, to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24. The disruption will affect five major zones in Chennai—Teynampet, Kodambakkam, Valasaravakkam, Alandur, and Adyar—and parts of Pallavaram, including Pozhichalur and Cowl Bazaar.
The interruption is necessary to facilitate work by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), which involves interconnecting drinking water pipelines on Paul Wells Road in Alandur. This project is part of an ongoing effort to upgrade infrastructure in the city, according to a release issued by the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB).
Residents in the affected areas are urged to store sufficient water ahead of time. While regular water supply will be halted, street supply will continue to be available. Those requiring additional water can book water tankers through CMWSSB’s online services.
For further assistance or queries, residents can reach out to the CMWSSB helpline at 044-45674567.
