Former Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai has announced that he will begin an indefinite hunger strike from May 20 if the perpetrators behind the recent double murder of an elderly couple, Ramachandran and Bhagyam, in Erode district are not apprehended. The couple was found murdered in their plantation home under mysterious circumstances, sparking outrage across the state.
Annamalai criticized the state’s handling of the case and questioned the government’s priorities, pointing out the rise in crime and violence, particularly against women. He also took a jab at the state’s celebration of awards and accolades for ministers, pointing out that while such events were being organized, serious crimes such as murder and sexual assaults were increasing.
He further demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) take over the case and called out the state government for its failure to curb crime, saying that law and order had broken down under Chief Minister Stalinās leadership.
