Iran has asked Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman to help stop the war with Israel. Tehran wants these Gulf countries to urge U.S. President Donald Trump to push Israel for an immediate ceasefire, according to a report by Reuters.
In return, Iran has said it is ready to show flexibility in nuclear talks, one Iranian official told reporters.
Gulf leaders worked hard over the weekend, making urgent phone calls to each other, to Washington, and to Tehran. Their goal is to prevent a larger war between Israel and Iran.
A Gulf official said their countries are very worried the situation could go out of control.
Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia have all told the U.S. to convince Israel to stop the fighting and restart talks with Iran towards a peaceful nuclear deal.
