The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has informed the Madras High Court that the functioning of Blue Cross of India is satisfactory. A committee formed by the board reviewed the operations and found no issues, leading to the closure of a complaint filed against the animal welfare organization.
This update came during a recent court hearing regarding concerns raised about Blue Cross’s public donation practices and its use of government-allotted land in Guindy. The court had earlier ruled that since the land was provided free of cost by the Tamil Nadu government, Blue Cross is subject to state monitoring.
The AWBI said its committee visited the facility and reviewed its operations before concluding that Blue Cross was operating properly. Based on the findings, the complaint was closed.
The court is also reviewing other aspects, including whether collecting public donations violates the terms under which the land was given.
The case is expected to continue as the High Court examines all related issues.
