The BJP has welcomed the court’s decision to acquit all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. The party said the verdict exposes the Congress’s “false narrative” of Hindu terrorism.
BJP leaders claimed that Congress tried to link the blasts to Hindu groups just to stop BJP leaders like Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, and to gain Muslim votes.
Among those acquitted were BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt. Col. Prasad Purohit.
Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Congress must apologise. He accused them of torturing innocent people for political gains. He added, “Truth always comes out, no matter how much you try to hide it.”
The BJP also demanded compensation for those acquitted and action against officials who wrongly charged them.
