TN govt to host tribute to Ilaiyaraaja on Sept 13

The Tamil Nadu government will host a grand tribute to music maestro Ilaiyaraaja on September 13 at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the program will celebrate Ilaiyaraaja’s 50 years in music. The event is titled “The Breeze That Sings to the King.”

The evening will feature live performances by Ilaiyaraaja along with international musicians. Top Tamil cinema stars, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, are expected to attend.

Earlier this year, Ilaiyaraaja’s symphony in London received praise from leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Stalin. Following that, the state government decided to organize this tribute.

Ilaiyaraaja said this was the first time the government is holding a tribute for him and expressed his happiness about the honor.
