From October 1, passengers who have linked their Aadhaar number to their railway account will get priority in booking tickets. The Railway Administration said these passengers will be allowed to book tickets 15 minutes before the general public.
Officials said the step will make the booking process faster and safer. It will also help verified passengers get tickets with ease.
The priority booking window will apply to all trains reserved through the Railway website and mobile app. Passengers must ensure their Aadhaar is correctly linked to their account to avail of this facility.
Railways also advised passengers to complete their Aadhaar verification in advance to avoid last-minute issues. This move is part of a larger effort to digitize and streamline ticketing services.
Experts said the early access will reduce website congestion during peak booking hours. It will also help passengers secure tickets for popular trains more efficiently.
