Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Gold Jewellery Park and inaugurated the state’s longest road bridge, stretching 10.10 km, during his official visit to Coimbatore.
The five-storeyed Jewellery Park, to be built at the SIDCO Industrial Estate at a cost of Rs 126.12 crore (first phase: Rs 81.40 crore), will house jewellery making units ranging from 100 to 300 sqft and feature modern facilities including gold safe lockers, hallmark testing centre, 3D printing, laser cutting, CAD/CAM technology, training centres, and a crèche. The project aims to upgrade the livelihood of gold jewellery entrepreneurs in the region.
The new overbridge on Avinashi Road, named after industrialist G.D. Naidu, connects key points across Coimbatore, including the Railway Station, Gandhipuram Bus Stand, airport, Codissia complex, PSG and CIT Institutes, and KMCH Hospital. Constructed at a cost of Rs 1,791 crore, the bridge is expected to ease traffic congestion, boost IT corridors, and facilitate industrial and investor growth in and around the city.
