The Tamil Nadu government has scheduled an all-party meeting on November 6 led by senior ministers, to formulate guidelines for public meetings and rallies in the state. This initiative follows the Madras High Court’s directive after the tragic Karur stampede in September 2025, aiming to ensure safety during large political gatherings and public events. The meeting will include members from all Election Commission-recognized parties and legislative representatives, encouraging a collaborative approach for balanced public safety and democratic rights.
The all-party meeting aims to set Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for future rallies and public meetings to prevent accidents and maintain order as mandated by the High Court.
