The Tamil Nadu Information Commission has directed the Public Information Officer of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to issue a corrected reply to an RTI query on corruption cases against MPs and MLAs.The order, passed by State Chief Information Commissioner Md Shakeel Akhter, came after appellant Aadithya Cholan of Ramapuram argued that the earlier response provided in December 2024 was incorrect.
Following a Madras High Court directive in July 2025 to dispose of the appeal within 12 weeks, the Commission heard the matter on 12 November.
Noting that the reply issued under Section 7(9) of the RTI Act was unacceptable, it instructed the PIO to provide accurate details based on official records within a month and submit proof of dispatch by 8 January 2026.
