Putting an end to speculation that the Congress was moving closer to actor-turned-politician Vijay’s TVK, the AICC-appointed five-member Congress panel met DMK President and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at Anna Arivalayam ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls.TNCC President K. Selvaperunthagai, who is part of the panel, termed the meeting a courtesy call and reaffirmed that the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance remains intact. Calling it the first meeting after the panel’s formation, he said all members were “very happy” with the discussion.
Senior DMK leaders were present at the meeting.
All India Congress Committee President Mallikharjuna Kharge had formed the panel.
The panel was constituted after the DMK had reportedly urged the AICC leadership to put an end to speculation over the continuation of INDIA bloc in Tamil Nadu.
