The AIADMK has received around 9,500 applications from party members and supporters wishing to contest the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections on its ticket, party officials announced on Wednesday.The nomination forms were distributed from December 15 onwards at the party’s headquarters in Chennai for aspirants from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala. The window for submission was extended until December 31, allowing interested candidates to file their applications between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily.
Applicants were required to fill out all details clearly on the prescribed form before submission, AIADMK leaders said. With the deadline now closed, the party is set to begin interviews of the aspirants soon to finalise its candidates for the polls.
The strong response comes as political parties intensify preparations ahead of the 2026 elections, with alliances and candidate selections underway across the state.
