With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections just four months away, political activity in the state is rapidly heating up. In a major move to galvanise the opposition front, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Pudukottai on January 4 to campaign alongside leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).Amit Shah’s visit marks a significant moment in the NDA’s efforts to consolidate its position in Tamil Nadu ahead of the upcoming polls. He is expected to attend the concluding event of the election campaign started by BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagendran, known as the “Tamilagam Thalai Nimira Tamizhanin Payanam” (Tamil Nadu march for Tamil pride), which began on October 12 and will culminate in a grand public meeting in Nathampannai’s Pallathivayal area of Pudukottai.
The massive rally venue, spanning around 60 acres, is being prepared with a large stage and arrangements for a major public gathering. Senior leaders from NDA partner parties have been invited to participate. Confirmed invitees include AIADMK general secretary and Opposition Leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Tamil Maanila Congress chief G.K. Vasan, IJK leader Parivendhar, and Puthiya Neethi Katchi chief A.C. Shanmugam, among others.
