AIADMK leader and Leader of Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Tuesday released a detailed list alleging large-scale corruption across multiple departments under the DMK government, submitting the dossier to Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and calling for a thorough probe.
According to the list, at least Rs 4 lakh crore worth of alleged irregularities occurred in various sectors during the DMK’s nearly four-and-a-half-year rule. Among the biggest claimed cases are Rs 64,000 crore in the Municipal Administration & Drinking Water Supply department, Rs 10,000 crore in the Chennai Corporation, and Rs 8,000 crore in the Industries sector. Other sectors like school education, agriculture, social welfare and youth welfare were also cited with alleged corruption ranging from Rs 250 crore to thousands of crores.
Palaniswami said the alleged corruption has damaged investor confidence and urged the Governor to set up a special investigation commission to examine the charges.
The opposition leader’s allegations add to ongoing political tensions in the state ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
