The Centrally-administered Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, an Institution of National Importance under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will conduct its 14th Convocation on Tuesday, January 20.Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Ms Anupriya Patel, will participate as the Chief Guest and deliver the convocation address.
The function will be graced by Puducherry Lt Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and other dignitaries.
A total of 941 students will be awarded degrees at the convocation, including 39 Ph.D., 49 DM, 26 M.Ch., 11 PDCC, 9 PDF, 269 MD, 129 MS, one MDS and 408 MBBS graduates, marking a major academic milestone for the institution, a PIB release said here on Sunday.
In recognition of academic excellence, 180 students will receive medals and endowment prizes, including 83 undergraduate, 90 postgraduate and seven super-specialty candidates, for securing the highest marks in their respective disciplines.
JIPMER Director Dr Vir Singh Negi will present the institute report, highlighting the institution’s achievements in medical education, patient care and research.
