PM meet: SPG in Chennai to review security arrangements

A Special Protection Group (SPG) team has arrived in Chennai ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled election campaign visit to Maduranthagam in Chengalpattu on Friday. The team held an Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) meeting at the old Chennai airport to finalise security plans. The Prime Minister’s visit has been tightly scheduled for less than three hours. He will fly from Thiruvananthapuram to Chennai by a special aircraft, then proceed by a special helicopter directly to the public meeting venue, avoiding road travel. Senior NDA leaders, including AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, are expected to join the rally, which will run from 3 pm to 4.30 pm. The SPG inspected key locations, including the aircraft parking area and helicopter landing zone, and reviewed deployment plans for security personnel. @@@
