The AIADMK IT wing has launched a strong attack on former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam following his decision to join the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). The move has triggered intense, political reactions across Tamil Nadu, especially among AIADMK cadres.
Panneerselvam, who previously served as Chief Minister three times under the banner of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), formally aligned with the DMK in the presence of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin in Chennai. His switch comes after prolonged leadership disputes within the AIADMK that led to his expulsion from the party.
In a strongly worded statement on social media, the AIADMK IT wing accused Panneerselvam of betraying the party that, according to them, gave him political prominence. The post claimed that loyal cadres who once stood firmly behind him now feel disappointed by his decision.
The statement suggested that his departure was not merely a political move but a moral setback for party workers who trusted his leadership. It further criticized his shift to a rival Dravidian party, calling it a move that would not be easily forgotten by grassroots supporters.
OPS’s entry into the DMK is seen as a significant development in Tamil Nadu politics, particularly with elections approaching. While DMK leaders have welcomed his experience and political background, AIADMK supporters view the move as a serious betrayal.
