The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has announced a protest on March 12 over the alleged scam in the Madurai Corporation.
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami accused members of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of being involved in large-scale corruption and irregularities in the civic body.
He said several DMK functionaries, including the mayor and zonal committee chairpersons, had already resigned after the issue came to light. However, he alleged that the state government has failed to take action against those responsible.
Condemning the government and the Municipal Administration Department, the AIADMK leader said the party will stage a protest demanding action against those involved and calling for better civic services for the public.
The protest is expected to be held on March 12 with participation from AIADMK leaders and party cadres.
