Puducherry, Apr 3:
CPI(M) Politburo member K. Balakrishnan on Thursday said the AIADMK and actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) would face defeat in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Balakrishnan, whose party is part of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), criticised the AIADMK-led NDA, pointing to past differences between AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami and BJP leader K. Annamalai, who are now aligned.
He alleged that internal contradictions within the alliance weaken its credibility and also criticised AMMK founder T. T. V. Dhinakaran and PMK leadership, referring to unresolved issues within the party.
Calling the AIADMK alliance “fragmented,” he claimed that several senior leaders had distanced themselves, leaving it weakened.
On Puducherry, Balakrishnan expressed confidence that a Congress-led secular government would be formed, alleging that the NDA government had failed on development, industrial growth, and employment, while also accusing it of corruption.
He dismissed claims of confusion within the INDI Alliance as baseless and said CPI(M) would support Congress and DMK candidates where it is not contesting.
