Chennai, June 2:
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan on Tuesday stated that he would not contest in any upcoming by-elections, including the Tiruchy East constituency.
Speaking to reporters, Thirumavalavan said that holding a legislative position was not essential for him to be part of the government. “Even if I am not an MLA, I can still become a member of the Council of Ministers,” he said.
He further disclosed that an invitation had been extended to him by the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to join the Council of Ministers. Thirumavalavan added that he had already informed the Chief Minister about his decision not to contest in the by-elections.
His statement has generated political interest, as it signals possible developments in the state’s political landscape, particularly in the context of cabinet expansion and alliance dynamics.
While ruling out participation in by-elections, Thirumavalavan’s remarks underline his continued relevance and influence in Tamil Nadu politics.
