Chennai, June 6:
K Annamalai’s decision to resign from the party and announce plans to launch a new political outfit will not affect the BJP, Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran said on Friday.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Nagendran asserted that there would be “no setback” for the BJP, adding that the party remains firmly rooted in its ideology and continues to be the largest political organisation in the world. He also said that in a democracy, anyone is free to start a political party.
Responding to criticism that Tamil Nadu’s interests were being ignored, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently highlighted Tamil Nadu’s culture and heritage during international visits, rejecting such allegations as incorrect.
