India made a dominant start to their Women’s T20 World Cup campaign, defeating Pakistan by 64 runs at Edgbaston on Sunday.
Smriti Mandhana starred with a brilliant 68 off 44 balls, while Harmanpreet Kaur (36) and Richa Ghosh (34 off 17) guided India to 170 for 6 after an early wobble.
In reply, Pakistan failed to keep pace with the required run rate and were bowled out for 106 in 17 overs. Deepti Sharma was the standout performer with the ball, claiming a superb five-wicket haul.
The comprehensive win gives India a strong boost early in the tournament.
