Chennai, July 3:
The Greater Chennai Corporation has announced that it will conduct special property tax collection camps across the city from July 3 to July 17, aiming to facilitate convenient payment of outstanding dues by property owners.
According to an official release, the camps will be organised at all zonal and ward offices of the Corporation and will function daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Residents can visit their respective local offices during this period to clear pending property tax without delay.
The civic body emphasised that property tax remains its primary source of revenue, which is crucial for maintaining essential urban infrastructure and public services in Chennai. These include solid waste management, street lighting, maintenance of roads and parks, as well as public health initiatives and disease prevention programmes.
Officials noted that such special camps are organised periodically to improve tax compliance and reduce arrears, while also offering residents a hassle-free payment option closer to their homes.
The Corporation has urged property owners to make use of this opportunity to settle their dues promptly, warning that delayed payments could attract penalties and possible legal action. Civic authorities reiterated that timely tax contributions play a key role in sustaining and improving urban services across the city.
