Chennai, July 4:
Senior DMK leader and former Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan, who was arrested for making defamatory remarks against Chief Minister Vijay, on Friday night alleged that he was insisted by the police to quit as MLA and join the ruling TVK, a charge stoutly denied by TN Electricity Minister CT Nirmal Kumar, saying it as a diversionary tactics and that even if he falls at the feet of CM would never admit him into the party.
Hours after arrest following rejection of his anticipatory bail plea and interrogation, Anitha was being taken to medical examination and to the court in Tiruchendur, the constituency he was representing in the State Assembly for the seventh term, when he alleged that pressure was exerted on him to resign as legislator and jointhe TVK.
“I will never resign. I will function as the true loyalist as DMK President MK Stalin and never succumb to any intimidatory tactics”, he told reporters, while being boarded into a police vehicle to be taken to the government hospital for medical examination before the judicial remand.
Meanwhile, Nirmal Kumar rejected the charge and said the TVK would never accept such a corrupted person in the party and termed the allegations as diversioanry tactics. There is no compromise in corruption . Law will take its own course. Even if he falls at the feet of the CM we will never admit him”.
The CM is committed to providing a clean governance and there was no room for corruption. Whoever was found involved in corruption would not be spared, including those who had joined the TVK after quitting the AIADMK, he added.
