Krishnagiri, July 16:
A mild earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale rocked Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu at a depth of 10 km on Wednesday night.
Official sources said, there were no casualties or damages.
According to Met office ‘an earthquake of Magnitude 3.0 occurred on 15 July. Epicentre: Krishnagiri district, Tamil Nadu. Depth: 10 km’
The epicentre is located in the Denkanikottai–Hosur region of Krishnagiri district, near the Tamil Nadu–Karnataka border.
An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 is classified as a minor earthquake.
Such earthquakes might be felt by people in areas close to the epicentre, particularly in and around Krishnagiri, Hosur and adjoining parts of Karnataka. However, they generally do not cause structural damage
