Tamil Nadu Opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin has come under sharp criticism after making an alleged derogatory remark about actor Trisha during a public rally in Thanjavur.
The controversy erupted when Udhayanidhi, while addressing a protest on the Cauvery issue, responded to chants from the crowd with a comment that drew widespread outrage. Political leaders, film industry voices and social media users condemned the remark, calling it inappropriate and offensive, especially given the stature of public office held by him.
BJP leaders termed the statement āvulgar and shamefulā and demanded immediate accountability. Several other opposition leaders also joined the criticism, urging political figures to maintain decorum in public speeches and refrain from making personal or gender-insensitive remarks.
