US reportedly halts visa appointments worldwide

Washington, Aug. 27:

The United States has reportedly halted visa appointment scheduling at embassies and consulates worldwide as the Donald Trump administration intensifies its immigration crackdown, creating uncertainty for applicants waiting to travel to the country.

The reported suspension comes amid a broader tightening of US immigration policies under the Trump administration, which has made immigration enforcement a central priority.

The move could affect applicants seeking various categories of US visas, depending on the scope and duration of the reported pause.

US diplomatic missions routinely process large numbers of applications from students, tourists, business travellers, skilled professionals and families seeking to enter the country.

Any widespread suspension of appointments could therefore have significant consequences for applicants, particularly those who have already made travel plans or secured university admissions and employment opportunities.

The reported move also comes against the backdrop of increased scrutiny of visa applicants and efforts by the administration to strengthen immigration controls.

Applicants may face longer waiting periods if appointments are postponed or rescheduled. Students preparing to begin academic programmes in the US could be particularly concerned about delays, given the time-sensitive nature of university admissions and course start dates.

The United States has been tightening immigration enforcement through measures aimed at preventing illegal entry, increasing deportations and imposing stricter scrutiny on foreign nationals.

Details regarding the duration and precise scope of the reported suspension remained subject to clarification.

The development is being closely watched by countries with large numbers of people travelling to the US for education, employment, business and tourism.
