Ashok Leyland sales surge 38% in August

Chennai, Sept 2:

Ashok Leyland reported a 38% year-on-year increase in total vehicle sales, including exports, at 21,038 units in August 2026, compared with 15,239 units in the same month last year.

Domestic sales rose 43% to 19,438 units from 13,622 units, driven by strong demand for medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCVs).

Domestic M&HCV sales increased 55% to 12,408 units. Within this segment, truck sales surged 60% to 10,285 units, while bus sales rose 36% to 2,123 units.

Including exports, M&HCV sales grew 46% to 13,719 units. M&HCV truck sales increased 60% to 10,748 units, while bus sales rose 12% to 2,971 units.

Light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales also grew 25%, reaching 7,319 units from 5,858 units in August 2025.

For April-August 2026, Ashok Leyland’s total sales, including exports, stood at 89,391 units, up 20% from 74,541 units in the corresponding period last year. Domestic cumulative sales increased 22% to 83,720 units.
