MUMBAI:
A Mumbai court on Wednesday remanded three men accused in the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff’s car to police custody until October 31.
The accused — Rehan R and Phool Singh, both from Sonipat in Haryana, and Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan, originally from Begusarai in Bihar and residing in Mumbai — were brought from Kota in Rajasthan and produced before the court.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch sought 14 days of custody, stating that the weapons used in the attack were yet to be recovered. Investigators also told the court that the accused had allegedly destroyed two mobile phones and that further questioning was necessary to establish the motive and uncover the alleged conspiracy.
The defence opposed the request, arguing that the men had already been questioned during transit remand and while being brought to Mumbai. After hearing both sides, the court remanded them to police custody until October 31.
At least two men allegedly fired at Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening before escaping on a motorcycle. Police said five to six rounds were fired. Shroff escaped relatively unhurt, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries. The motorcycle was later found abandoned in Andheri.
A case has been registered for attempted murder and under the Arms Act. The investigation is continuing.
