Oscar-winning maestro A.R. Rahman delivered a composed, philosophical response to internet skepticism and social media criticism surrounding his musical compositions for Nitesh Tiwari’s grand mythological epic Ramayana. Following the initial release of promotional tracks, including “Mangal Rang”, segments of online audiences engaged in polarized debates over the tonality and classical balance of the arrangements.

Reflecting on the nature of mass public reception, Rahman quoted iconic innovator Steve Jobs, remarking that if a creator’s primary intention is to satisfy every single person without friction, they ought to sell ice cream rather than create complex artistic work.

The composer pointed out that ambitious conceptual art inherently invites debate, and creative exploration cannot thrive under the constant pressure of instant unanimous consensus. Elaborating on his creative process, Rahman explained that monumental spiritual and mythological epics demand extensive interior exploration, subtle melodic architecture, and historical reverence.

The maestro drew parallels to vintage culinary art, remarking that profound music often resembles a slow-simmered recipe that takes patience, repeat hearings, and emotional openness to be savored properly.

He cautioned listeners against rushed judgments driven by algorithms and immediate digital reactions, emphasizing that enduring compositions reveal their inner resonance over decades rather than days as he remains fully dedicated to crafting an immersive sonic landscape for Ramayana.
