With the confusion that started last week in the AIADMK, after demands were made for a unitary leadership settling down following a warning by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, many in the party feel that this is part of the DMK’s strategy to weaken the AIADMK.

The AIADMK headquarters called a meeting of its seniors, including ministers, district secretaries, MPs and MLAs 12 June, and, at the same time, issued a gag order restraining party members from airing their views in public.
Amidst reports that there is a rift in the AIADMK-BJP alliance after it managed to win just one seat in the recently-concluded Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has sought to play it down by claiming that “all is well” between the partners.
Power corridors are already abuzz with the talk that a centralised security architecture has been built around the Modi-Jaishankar-Doval trinity. And, the country is eager to see how the trio is going to deliver.
With today being Karunanidhi’s birth anniversary, many senior and young functionaries have only upped the demand, saying, “Udhayanidhi’s active campaigning and his popularity among the public as an actor helped the DMK and its alliance partners emerge triumphant in the polls.”

“Two MPs of the AIADMK are likely be given ministerial berths. EPS and OPS have been asked to name them. In all likelihood, senior leader V Vaithilingam and Panneerselvam’s son O P Raveendranath Kumar will become Union Ministers,” sources say.
While Palaniswami and Panneerselvam have renewed their earlier appeal to those who had “drifted away” from the party due to the “illusions created by selfish individuals,” Stalin has said, “During the next five years, we will work hard to fulfill the promises made and protect the interest of our State!”
By this time tomorrow, the bitterly-fought Lok Sabha elections and by-polls to 22 Assembly seats in Tamilnadu might become a memory, if not history. But, they will be remembered for long for digging the past and stirring controversies over late leaders.
