As the idol of Lord Athi Varadar, brought out from the holy tank of Lord Varadarajaswamy temple in Kanchipuram after 40 years, was kept at the Vasantha Mandapam for darshan today, thousands of people thronged the place of worship to offer prayers.
Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit was among the early devotees. Elaborate arrangements have been made by the district administration and HR & CE department for hassle-free entry and exit.
People can have a darshan of Athi Varadar for 48 days from today, after which the idol will be placed in the tank again, as per tradition.
