The Kauvery Hospital has released its 4.30 pm bulletin, which says Karunanidhi’s condition is ” is extremely critical, and unstable.”The hospital said, “Significant decline in the clinical condition of karunanidhi’s health in the last few hours, despite maximum support his vital organ functions continue to deteriorate. His condition is extremely critical, and unstable.”
Earlier, his son and DMK working president M K Stalin called on Chief Minister K Palaniswami at his residence and was closeted with him for some time, officials said.
Chief Minister Palaniswami also held a meeting with top officials and he reviewed the situation.
Meanwhile, hundreds of DMK cadres have collected outside the hospital in downtown Alwarpet and the crowd is swelling by the minute.
Many were seen weeping and chanting slogans hailing the leader. A woman supporter was seen fainting and being helped by others who sprinkled water on her face.
Security has been enhanced at the hospital and the Gopalapuram residence of the nonagenarian leader.As concerns over Karunanidhi’s condition mounted, a general alert was sounded across the state. Security was stepped at major installations.
