Chennai: The Senior Citizens Group of Besant Nagar and Mylapore (SCGOBNM) held a seminar jointly with TTK Hospital, Adyar, on âSocial media de-addictionâ recently.
More than 40 persons attended the session.
Trustee of TTK Hospital, Maya Varadarajan, said that such a seminar was the need of the hour with more and more people getting addicted to social media.
President of SCGOBNM, V Chandrasekhar said that such people gradually destroy their personal lives, social lives and their careers, while Cyber lawyer Madras High Court, B Hariharan, spoke about the legal consequences of addiction.
He said users must be careful about how they use social media or else they could end up flouting the law and come under section 66A of the IT act which is very powerful and people can be arrested.
Dr Anita Rao of TTK Hospital requested those who are affected to accept the problem and seek medical help.
