Chennai: While ATMs for withdrawing cash have become a part and parcel of our lifestyle, there are still many localities even in the heart of the city without them or at least without functional ATMs and those with cash.
Once such place is the famous 100 Feet Road in Nanganallur in the city suburb which sees huge crowd but lacks ATMs.
Nanganallur Hindu Colony resident G Sathiyanarayanan, said,“The 100 Feet Road in Nanganallur, which is a 2-km stretch, connects MGR Road and Medavakkam Road in the Chennai suburb. It consists of several hospitals, two e-seva centres and electricity board office among many other commercial establishments.”
“But even to this day, there is not even a single ATM on the entire stretch. One has to go to MGR Road or Medavakkam Road to draw money from an ATM. People are finding it very difficult in the absence of ATMs in a commercial spot like this. For payment of medical expenses, people can now be seen running from pillar to post. Hence, I request any bank, preferably government banks, to come forward to open an ATM on the Road. This will be a big boon for those visiting hospitals here,” he added.
