Chennai: The Idol Wing of Tamilnadu police is conducting raids at the farmhouse of Ranvir Shah in Sriperumbudur now in connection with the probe into the unearthing of ancient idols in his Chennai house.
The Idol Wing, led by DIG Pon Manickavel, is conducting raids in the farmhouse located at Mukalvadi today, according to reports reaching here.
The wing had earlier unearthed close to 90 idols in his Saidapet residence in Chennai last month.
A garment exporter, Ranvir claimed he had purchased the idols and would produce documentary evidence to prove his innocence. The idols were removed and shifted to a government office for safekeeping.
It is suspected that he was involved in the smuggling of idols along with Deenadayalan, the idol smuggling kingpin arrested after a sensational discovery of his modus operandi.
