In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old rowdy, wielding a sickle, created a flutter on the premises of a court in Sivaganga, where he sat in the chair of the Chief Judicial Magistrate and raised slogans. According to reports, Munusamy, who had been held for rowdyism and granted bail, first entered a temple and allegedly threatened the devotees by brandishing the weapon. The man then went to the court and menacingly chased some people on its premises. Later, he entered the chamber of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, sat in his chair and raised threatening slogans. On being informed, police rushed to the scene and arrested Munusamy. Though the police have said the man was psychologically affected, his acts and his ‘history’ show to what extent he respects the law of the land.
Moreover, he has created ruckus in a temple and threatened devotees. Such acts should be viewed by the law-enforcing authorities with all seriousness and stern action should be taken against those who have scant respect for judicial and religious institutions. People in these parts, who have lost confidence in politicians, are now pinning their hopes only on the court and Gods. So, this, too, should not be allowed to get diluted.
