To enhance the soft and life skills of students and residents in the neighbourhood, Dreams of Sai Nagar Women (DSW), a non-profit organisation functioning from Sai Nagar in Virugambakkam, Chennai, is planning to commence free classes on various skills.

Speaking to News Today, DSW secretary Jayashree Ramani said, “When we launched in September this year, our target was to implement ways that would ensure a better future for the kids and students in our locality.”

The forum has now come up with free classes on yoga, mudra techniques for health, spoken English and grammar and Balavikas.

“As of now, we have started off with this. In future, we are planning to implement spoken Hindi, Android application classes, steps for environmental awareness and plastic management, to name a few,” said Jayashree.

When asked who will be handling these free classes, she said, “We have experts who will be teaching the skills. They either volunteer or work for DSW.”

About Balavikas, Jayashree said, “Spoken English, yoga and mudra exercises are common. But, Balaviikas is something special where the students will be taught moral values and social skills.”

“Various competitions will be held exclusively for the women and children of Sai Nagar. It will focus on bringing out their talent and give them exposure to redefine their capacity,” Jayashree said.

When asked what would be the vision and mission of the forum, Jayashree said, “We did not set any specific vision or mission as we feel there should be holistic development in the lives of women. So, we have generalised our goals as ‘for women’ and we will progress towards that.”
