????????????????????????????????????

Ever since MS Shwetha wielded a brush in her hands when she was four, there was no turning back. Today, the 21-year-old artist has won numerous laurels including the ‘Kalai Ilamani’ from the Tamilnadu State government, even as she takes classes for children and adults.

Speaking to News Today, she says, “My father is an artist. Naturally, I got inspired when I saw him paint. My parents encouraged me when they saw me passionate about art. They helped me participate in various competitions.”

About the type of art she enjoys, “I love painting anything which is colourful and related to nature. I also like to work on flowers, landscapes and portraits.”

The talented youngster does not have a particular favourite artist, it seems. “But I admire every piece of work I come across,” she says.

Sharing tips for others, she states, “They should never give up while trying out something new. Only through practice, you can get better and learn deeper about the form.”

Contrary to popular belief, she stresses on the fact that taking up painting as a career is a good choice. “People should realise that art isn’t just an extra curricular activity, but an option for a mainstream career as well,” she says, adding, “I wish to spread the same in rural areas, where there is not much awareness regarding this.”

Shwetha will be displaying her paintings at Hotel Ambassador Pallava, Egmore, till 15 March. It is her 11th individual art show and will have 30 of her works on various themes.

Reach her at 94441 72266, 94444 52979 and 95512 42121.
