Chennai: The Tamilnadu Assembly was adjourned sine die on Saturday after a 16-day session, during which several issues concerning the State were discussed.

After the day’s proceedings ended, Speaker P Dhanapal adjourned the House without mentioning any date. The session, which began on June 28 was adjourned on that day after paying obituary references to sitting and former members.
The session resumed on 1 July and ended yesterday.

The session was earlier scheduled to end on 31 July, but was advanced due to the announcement of elections to the Vellore Lok Sabha seat.

During the 16-day session, the House witnessed heated debates on a host of issues, including the acute water crisis faced in the State, NEET, NEXT, hydro-carbon project, release of seven life convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, Cauvery, Mullaiperiyar, Mekedatu, imposition of Hindi, among others.

The session also saw Chief Miniser Edappadi K Palaniswami announcing several new schemes for various departments under Rule 110 in the State Assembly.
