Chennai: Amid widespread reports of rift between DMK and Congress, senior leaders of the national party today called on DMK president M K Stalin and said all is well between the alliance partners.

Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanswamy said that there was no rift between the two parties. He made the statement after meeting Stalin at Anna Arivalayam this morning.

Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, Narayanaswamy said that their alliance will continue in the 2021 Assembly elections as well. ”There may be minor differences in the alliance. All that will be solved through talks,” he added.

Hours after Narayanaswamy’s meeting, TNCC chief K S Alagiri called Stalin at Arivalayam. Alagiri downplayed the recent rift between the alliance parties.

”Both of us just expressed our opinions which is a healthy thing to do. Our coalition will continue even after the 2021 Assembly elections,” he said. He further said during the meeting they also discussed about Rajinikanth’s Darbar.

Speaking about Rajini’s recent statement about Murasoli, Alagiri said, ”Rajini does not have such intentions (to degrade the DMK mouthpiece). May be he did not convey what he thought in a correct manner.”

When asked about MNM founder Kamal Haasan’s opinion about the rift between DMK and Congress, Alagiri said,”Kamal claims to be secular, but he is seeking the support of Rajinikanth who is BJP inclined. Does this mean that Kamal is indirectly seeking BJP’s help?.”

Meanwhile, former TNCC president and MP S Thirunavaukarasar said there is no necessity for the DMK-Congress alliance to split.”Both the parties should forget the statements made by them,” he said.

Recently, Alagiri made a statement accusing the DMK of not giving adequate number of seats to his party in the recently concluded local body elections. This attracted angry reactions from the DMK.
