KTM 390 Adventure achieves three new feat

Pune: For the first time in the country, a made-in-India motorcycle – KTM 390 Adventure – has got three of advanced MotoGP technologies, namely, Traction Control, Cornering ABS, and Bidirectional Quickshifter. Industry experts believe this to be a great step in making India a lucrative destination for automotive enthusiasts across the globe.

As the name suggests, Traction Control (TC) is used to provide traction to the wheels thereby providing stability to the motorcycle. An on-board computer continuously monitors the overall power and torque delivery, wheel rpm, and speed in addition to various other parameters like lean angle, suspension travel, jerks, etc. If in case the computer detects any stability issues, it automatically cuts off engine power. Usually, TC comes on three modes – intrusive, less intrusive and off.

Cornering ABS is similar to a common ABS but it works more pronounced during corner entries and exits thereby preventing unintentional wheel lockups during high-speed turns. Bidirectional Quickshifter is a technology wherein, a rider need not engage the clutch while changing gears. This enables ultra-fast acceleration while keeping the throttle pinned. This system works by cutting spark plug current for a few microseconds helping in smooth gear shifting without even touching the clutch.
