New Delhi: Senior commanders of the Indian and Chinese armies will meet today for the tenth time to take forward the Galwan Valley disengagement process.
The corp commander-level talks come after news that the two armies had disengaged forces from the north and south banks of Pangong Tso lake.
In their agreement to end the standoff at Pangong Tso, India and China had committed to convening a corp commanders’ meeting within 48 hours of completion of disengagement on the banks of the lake.
Although both Indian and Chinese military commanders have been showcasing their role during the 10-month stand-off, the governments on both sides are taking a step forward to normalise relations on a reciprocal basis.
Things spiraled when 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a physical clash on 15 June at Galwan Valley in Ladakh. Only on Friday, China officially acknowledged casualties on its side, naming four officers and soldiers that it said were killed in this skirmish.
