Chennai: As the daily Covid caseload continued to dip, Tamilnadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced lifting all curbs and offered more relaxations from today.
In line with the Centre’s advise to adopt Risk Assessment Based Approach and taking into account the decline in Covid cases, Stalin said the ban on holding social, cultural and political meetings and gatherings will be lifted from today.
He said with a view to control the virus spread, a maximum of 500 people would be allowed in marriage and 250 in funerals from today till 31 March.
While announcing these relaxations, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to continue to wear facemasks in public places andmaintain social distancing.
He also advised all those who had not taken their vaccine to take both the jabs.
The decision on the easing of curbs was taken after considering the declining infection rates, an official press release here said.
However, people should continue to follow Covid preventive measures such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, and get vaccinated, said Stalin.
The Chief Minister, in a statement here, said, the Covid caseload which stood at 30,744 on January 22, has come down to 3,086 on 11 February. The government is ready with the medical infrastructure to treat those afflicted with this infection.
