Cong, Communist parties to boycott Governor’s tea party

Chennai: In a significant political development, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) and the Communist parties have announced their decision to boycott the tea party hosted by the Governor of Tamil Nadu.

The Governor had extended invitations to various political parties for a tea gathering at the Governor’s residence on the occasion of Independence Day, August 15. However, this invitation has been met with strong resistance from certain political factions.

The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, led by Selva Perundagai, issued a statement explaining their decision to decline the Governor’s invitation. According to the statement, the boycott is a response to the Governor’s actions, which they allege are detrimental to the interests of the state and contrary to the welfare of the government.

“The Governor has been acting against the interests of the state and the government. As a form of protest, we have decided to boycott the tea party,” said Selvaperunthagai in a strongly worded statement.

The decision to boycott has garnered significant attention, reflecting the growing tension between the state government and the Governor’s office. The tea party, traditionally held at the Governor’s mansion, is an event that usually sees participation from leaders across the political spectrum. However, the current political climate seems to have overshadowed this customary gathering.
