In two separate incidents near Sholavaram in Tiruvallur district, unidentified gangs hurled country-made bombs at the homes of a DMK functionary and another individual, Saranraj. Fortunately, no human casualties were reported in either attack, though property damage occurred.
The first attack took place around 4 PM at the residence of Jagan, a DMK functionary whose wife is the vice president of the local village panchayat. According to Sholavaram police, four unidentified men arrived on two motorcycles and hurled a country-made bomb at the house before fleeing the scene. While no one was injured in the attack, the car parked inside the compound was significantly damaged.
Shortly after the first attack, a similar incident occurred in Sirunium, near Sholavaram. An unidentified gang targeted the home of a man named Saranraj, throwing a country-made bomb at his house. In addition to the bombing, the attackers used rods to smash Saranraj’s car, causing further property damage. Like the earlier incident, no injuries were reported.
The Sholavaram police are currently investigating both incidents to determine whether they were carried out by the same group. Authorities suspect that the attacks were intended to intimidate the victims, though the motive behind the violence remains unclear.
“We are inquiring whether both the attacks were carried out by the same gang. We suspect that these attacks were carried out to threaten them,” said a police official involved in the investigation.
These incidents have sparked concern in the local community, as residents fear that the violence could escalate. The police have increased their presence in the area and are working to track down those responsible for the attacks.
As the investigation continues, the authorities are urging anyone with information about the incidents to come forward. The attacks have raised questions about safety and security in the region, particularly for individuals involved in local politics.
The situation remains tense as the police continue their efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
