The grand audio launch of Suriya’s much-anticipated film Kanguva, directed by Siva, took place at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. The event saw an outpouring of excitement as fans and industry luminaries gathered to celebrate the actor’s 42nd film, set in an expansive fantasy universe. As Suriya took the stage, he began by thanking veteran actor Rajinikanth, who conveyed his best wishes through a video message. “I really thank Rajini sir for his kind words. If I’m able to sustain in the industry and in fans’ hearts, it’s because of my directors and producers,” Suriya said, expressing deep gratitude to the mentors and visionaries behind his career.
Speaking highly of producer KE Gnanavel Raja, Suriya credited him not only for greenlighting Kanguva but also for bringing his brother, Karthi, into the industry. “He doesn’t care about the industry’s limitations and sets his own rules. He has fought many battles to make films a reality,” Suriya stated, thanking Gnanavel for his unwavering support.
Kanguva marks Bobby Deol’s Tamil debut, and Suriya had nothing but praise for the actor’s dedication. Calling him a “brother from another mother,” Suriya commended Deol for sacrificing time with his family to shoot for the film. “Because of his addition, this film became a pan-Indian project,” he noted, acknowledging the broader reach the actor brings.
In a heartfelt tribute, Suriya thanked his co-stars, including Disha Patani, making her Tamil debut, and Bose Venkat, whose transformation he lauded. He also praised Yogi Babu, Natty, Kovai Sarala, and others, emphasizing the camaraderie and hard work that went into bringing the film to life.
Suriya also expressed gratitude to the technical team behind Kanguva. He hailed Vetri Palanisamy, the cinematographer, for creating stunning visuals with minimal artificial lighting, relying largely on firelight. He spoke of music composer Devi Sri Prasad, who had a personal connection to the project, and dialogue-writer Madhan Karky, whom he credited with creating new, expressive Tamil words suited to the film’s period setting.
Suriya paid tribute to the late art director Milan Fernandez, referring to him as the “creator” of Kanguva’s world. “Milan sir is our Lord Brahma, the creator. His wife, Maria, has fully supported us after his untimely passing,” he added.
On his association with director Siva, Suriya spoke about the deeper message of the film and how working with Siva made him feel like a better person. “Siva has this belief that everything happens for a reason, and it brings such positivity to the set,” Suriya said. He further described Kanguva as “a delicious feast” that would captivate audiences with its artistic storytelling.
